To kick off the month of November Anna-Lisa and I headed back to Hawaii for a week, to the Big Island this time around. Generally speaking November is a great month to go to Hawaii and it usually also happens to be a great month to get out of Vail as well, so it’s sort of a no-brainer. Sometimes the mountain just needs to be put in its place. This is my story of a very rainy trail run on the Island of Maui and just how much fun misery can be… Our first week was spent relaxing at a familiar spot on Kauai. Well, Katie and Odie got to relax. Anna-Lisa and I spent eleven days in Maui with my Dad and his girlfriend Susan at the beginning of November. It made for a relaxing reprieve and a nice way to mix things up after spending all summer hiking peaks and running trails in Colorado. Truth be told we spent most of our days playing tourist on the beach, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, and indulging in local fare. But on a couple of days we decided to head inland to explore a few trails, as well as Maui’s prominent mountain volcano, Haleakala. Read more…
