Pagoda Mountain sits at the southern end of Glacier Gorge in between two of Rocky Mountain National Park’s beasts: Longs Peak and Chiefs Head Peak. With an elevation of 13,497′, Pagoda Mountain is the 7th highest ranked peak in The Park. Still trying to get caught up on TRs from last year. In November Brian, Dillon, and I loaded up into the Jeep and made our way down to the Sangres with a less-than-stellar weather forecast looming over our heads. A more sensible group may have pushed the trip to a later date, but for some reason we got a wild hair and decided to try to stick it to Mother Nature on this particular weekend. I’ve been trying to plan a trip to climb 13er Isolation Peak (13,118) in the southern region of Rocky Mountain National Park for a couple years now. After trying to make an overnighter out of it, I decided to consolidate the logistics and just do it in a long day. I had a Saturday morning to kill with zero obligations and little interest in hanging around the house. Looking at the various options available to a Denverite weekend warrior, I decided on a day hike of Keller Mountain in the Gore Range. I can’t say enough for the splendor of the Gores, so I won’t go much further than to say each time I get in there I become more and more enamored with the range and what it has to offer. Read more…
