Ice Mountain: Refrigerator Couloir Ski

I drove my car as far as I could past Winfield in the pre-dawn hours of what would turn into an awesome spring day. Parking at a camp site about half a mile in, I shouldered my setup and began trudging up the dirt road towards the standard summer TH for Huron. Tabeguache North Face Ski Descent

In terms of access and interesting ski routes, Tabeguache Peak is somewhat limited. Basically the only interesting line from a skier’s perspective is the North Face, which also happens to be the most difficult side of the peak to access. This lack of access is what makes Tab’s North Face a relatively rare ski descent, but for those willing to put up with some punishment, the line is well worth it. Keep reading…

Almost anyone who`s been going after 14ers on skis for awhile knows through trial and error what a “perfect” day skiing a 14er would look like. We know well what a “perfect” day out would entail because we generally don`t experience perfection, and we know precisely what we would change if we had the ability to “draw it up” ourselves. Mt. Princeton Spring Ski Descent

Matt had plenty of time to scope out Princeton from BV during his mid-week Sawatch ski campaign. After he told me it looked good and was almost certainly in from the summit, I started working to convince Carl that we should ski it Sunday.
