Anderson and the Truros

A few weekends back Anna-Lisa, myself, and a few friends added another chapter to our annual Twin Lakes camping trip. We normally look to pull this trip off in August but this year schedules dictated it’d have to be late-June. As has become customary, Anna-Lisa and her friend Melina set off to summit another 14er (Mt. Yale this time) while I looked for 13er options in the area. Savage Couloir Ski

Savage Peak resides in the Holy Cross Wilderness 6 miles southwest of Holy Cross itself. Though there are some good summer hiking routes to its summit, a wild and aesthetic couloir on it’s northeastern flank makes for a good reason to lug skis back in there. Savage’s namesake couloir runs roughly 1,200 ft from near the summit down to Missouri Lakes. Read more…

A Taste of Spring on Mt. Mamma

This past Friday Steve, Jason, and I managed to finagle a day off from work to take advantage of a picture perfect state-wide weather forecast. The three of us set off from the Antero trailhead with the intention of exploring the Baldwin Creek drainage to the west of Cronin Peak. If all went well we hoped to summit Mt. Throwback to La Plata Peak in January

You could say he really made the rounds when it came to pursuing friendships forged from time in the mountains.
